2005 March
BAYDA Recording Sessions
In
February, the Chorus embarked on a new recording
endeavor entitled “ BAYDA: A TRIBUTE
TO FOUR CENTURIES OF KOZAK HEROISM BY THE
UKRAINIAN BANDURIST CHORUS.” Its projected
release date is October 1, 2005. The recording
will last through June and is taking place
at St. Vladimir's Cultural Centre in Oakville,
Ontario, Canada.

Day Concerts
50th Anniversary of the Ukrainian American
Youth Association (CYM) Camp (Oselia)
in Ellenville, New York
The
Ukrainian American Youth Association,
known widely by its Ukrainian acronym,
CYM, invited the Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus
for its annual Labor Day Weekend Festival
September 2- 5. Located in the Catskill
Mountains, Ellenville, New York is home
to the UAYA Camp (or Oselia CYM in Ukrainian).
This year, the Oselia is celebrated its
50th anniversary. The Ukrainian Bandurist
Chorus gave three performances and sang
the Divine Liturgy.

2005 September
Meeting
with the President of Ukraine
Ukrainian
President Viktor Yushchenko, leader of the
2004 Orange Revolution in Ukraine, was honored
at a banquet at The Pierre Hotel in New
York City on September 16th by New York’s
Ukrainian American community on his first
visit here as President. President Yushchenko
traveled to New York for the plenary meeting
of the 60th session of the UN General Assembly.

Before
the banquet, Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus
President Anatoli Murha and UBC member Zenon
Krislaty had the opportunity to meet President
Yushchenko and presented him gifts from
the UBC and briefly discussed the possibility
of the UBC touring Ukraine in the near future.

In
addition to the leaders and members of the
Ukrainian American community, the banquet,
which hosted over 380 guests, drew several
prominent individuals including Borys Tarasyuk,
Ukraine Minister of Foreign Affairs, William
Green Miller, Former US Ambassador to Ukraine,
Valery Kuchinsky, Ukraine’s Ambassador
to the United Nations, Serhiy Pohoreltsev,
Consul General of Ukraine in New York, and
Vitaly Klitschko, heavyweight boxing champion.
